Although it was initially woven from silk, velvet is now typically made from synthetic and natural fibers. Due of its high price, pure silk velvet is now extremely rare. The majority of velvet sold as silk velvet contains both silk and rayon. Polyester, nylon, rayon, and viscose can all be used to create synthetic velvet. The velvet fabric is very suitable for sofa, curtain and cushion.
